Top 10 Deadliest Driving Distractions

Distracted driving can be deadly, and many people don’t realize how easy it is to get caught up in something else when they should be paying attention to the road. Among the 10 most deadly distractions, according to PropertyCasualty360, are pets and smoking. Having an animal in the car can really take attention from the road, and lighting up is also a good way to get involved in an accident. Those aren’t the only problems, though.  The list includes adjusting the radio or air conditioning, moving and adjusting the mirrors, reaching for something, eating, gawking at accidents, having others in the car, and using your cell phone.

The main distraction, though, comes from simply not paying attention. It’s easy to get lost in thought and make a mistake. People lead such busy lives today that they don’t realize how distracted they are. If you live in a metropolitan area, you likely have a lot of traffic to contend with and a lot of distractions. Avoiding distracted driving can keep you from getting into an accident. You can’t control what others do, but you can do your part to keep yourself and the roadways safe.
