Country singer and songwriter, Jerry Jeff Walker will be taking over the Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater on Saturday, September 14th! Upstate New York native found his way “home” when he arrived in Austin, Texas in 1971. Since then, he has remained in Austin and continues to bless the ears and souls of many locals.
Although Jerry Jeff Walker’s music career took off once he arrived in Texas, he did record a few albums while living in New York City. Throughout his music career, he was referred to as “Jacky Jack” for his partying habits. Since then, he has reduced his partying tendencies.
In 1967, Jerry Jeff Walker recorded with folk-rock group, Circus Maximus, right before the band parted ways. One year later in 1968, Jerry Jeff Walker recorded his first solo album with Atco, titled Mr. Bojangles. He moved on to sign with Decca/MCA in 1972. His most popular songs include, “Mr. Bojangles,” “Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother,” “LA Freeway,” “Pickup Truck Song,” “Gettin’ By,” and “Night Rider’s Lament.”
