What’s in an Umbrella Policy?

Umbrella insurance coverage is additional liability protection above and beyond the limit of your existing liability coverages. If someone files an insurance claim against you for damages that exceed your insurance policy limits, Umbrella coverage picks up where the other policies leave off.

Your Homeowners, Auto, Boat and Recreational Vehicle insurance coverages all have limits on the liability protection you receive. Some people have exposures that present a higher risk of liability. For instance, a swimming pool or trampoline, young drivers in the household, a ski boat, jet ski or even a rental house.  All of these situations present exposures that can increase the chance of larger claims.  An Umbrella policy is a cost effective way to address the need for increased limits.
