Austin Ice Cream Festival Brings Sweet Fun
Over the summer, there are a lot of great Austin events that fill the warmer days with fun. Unfortunately, many of those activities will put you right in the path of the summer sun. The good news is that among all the exciting happenings, there is one that can help you turn down the temperature.
If you are looking for things to do to beat the summer heat, mark your calendar for the Austin Ice Cream Festival.
On August 8th, 2015, the Fiesta Gardens in Austin will play host to the 9th Annual Austin Ice Cream Festival. This fun event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Your $10 entry ticket will get you plenty of free ice cream to help you cool off. Want to bring the kids? Children 8 and under get in for free!
At the festival, you will find games and activities for the whole family, live entertainment, and, of course, lots of ice cream. There will also be contests, including a homemade ice cream making contest and a popsicle stick sculpture contest. Pre-make your ice cream at home and bring it down with $20 to enter in the first contest; participating in the latter is free and you can make your sculpture ahead of time or at the event. Get creative and have some fun!
Some of the proceeds from this great event go to local charities. In the past, they have included Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habibis Hutch, the Austin Children’s Shelter, and more.
