2014 24th Annual Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival

Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival

Be sure to mark your calendars for the 2014 Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival! The 24th annual festival will take place on Sunday, August 24th. As one of the largest hot sauce festivals in the world, you will not want to miss out!

Since 1990, 15,000 locals and spectators have gathered to taste the delicious hot sauce creations at over 350 booths. This event is free of charge, as long as you arrive with three nonperishable food items in hand. Without any nonperishable food items, it is requested that you donate $5 to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas.  Your small contribution goes a long way to support the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas’ mission to provide families in need with nutritious food.

The hot sauce competition has three levels of competition so that everyone has a fair chance against competitors their own size. The festival has enlisted the help of some of the most successful chefs in Texas to determine which hot sauce is best in the categories of homemade competitors, participating restaurants, and commercial bottlers.

There will also be live music! Rosie and the Ramblers will begin the day of music at 12:15pm until 1:00pm. Gumbo Se Coir goes on at 1:15pm until 2:00pm, followed by El Tule at 2:15pm until 3:15pm. LaTasha Lee and the BlackTies will be performing from 3:30pm until 4:45pm.

Mark your calendar and head over to the Fiesta Gardens on Jesse E. Segovia St. around noon to get started on a day of fun, and hot sauce, of course!
